KARACHI, Jun 8 (APP): UN-HABITAT and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) with the co-coordination of the Population Census Organization of Pakistan (PCO) have initiated a programme for capacity building of workers. According to a PCO press release issued on Wednesday focus will be to enhance and develop the capacity of the existing GIS system for the PCO Offices in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta.

The PCO workers and officials will be trained in modern technology and latest GIS software.

UN-HABITAT Pakistan is also implementing a comprehensive project titled “GIS Automation and Capacity Building for the Statistics Division at federal and provincial census offices,” as part of the Joint Programme (JP) Output- 1, Institutional Capacity of GIS Labs’ of PCO. Source: APP
