A practical online training series will occur during January 2026, designed specifically for National Statistics Institutes (NSIs) and the wider official statistics community, including anyone involved in geospatial analysis in statistical production or professionals seeking to incorporate EO into statistical workflows.

This training series is organised and promoted by the Stakeholder Engagement Facility (SEF), funded by European Space Agency (ESA) through the Applications Element of its “EO Science for Society Programme”. SEF aims to implement a systematic knowledge and capacity sharing service across the EO ecosystem and expand engagement with diverse key stakeholder communities through a range of tailored approaches to address their needs.

This three-part series introduces participants to Earth Observation (EO) data, tools, and workflows that can enhance and modernise the production of official statistics. Whether you are just starting with EO or looking to deepen your technical skills, these sessions provide a clear, hands-on pathway.

The training agenda includes the following three sessions and respective dates and times:

  • Session 1 – Introduction to EO for Official Statistics (16 January 2026 | 14:00-15:30 CET)
  • Session 2 – Practical Session: QGIS & Copernicus Use Cases (23 January 2026 | 14:00-16:00 CET)
  • Session 3 – Advanced EO Applications (30 January 2026 | 14:00-15:00 CET)
