The GSGF-CARE project has participated in the UN-GGIM Workshop on geospatial information management arrangements and the wider international data ecosystem in Europe and neighbouring countries, held in the United Nations Office in Vienna (Austria) on 11-13 February 2026.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the integration of statistical and geospatial information and focused on developing awareness and capability at both strategic and technical levels.
These workshop goals strongly aligned with the mission and goals of the GSGF-CARE project in enhancing capacity building and capability development to integrate statistical and geospatial data towards the implementation of the Global Statistical Geospatial Framework (GSGF) in the European context.
As an opportunity to introduce the project and increase its visibility in both geospatial, statistical and data user communities, GSGF-CARE presented in the GSGF Deep Dive session how is contributing to assess the statistical-geospatial maturity in Europe and supporting the capabilities to implement GSGF in the regional context.
Some national experiences from Portugal, Austria and Sweden were also shared considering the dimensions of the GSGF Self-assessment tool to showcase how countries and organisations can learn how they are progressing in statistical-geospatial data integration. The planned GSGF-CARE Regional Workshops for 2026 in Lisbon, Madrid and Prague were also broadcasted in the event.
