Evaluation of disaggregation techniques used to produce the GEOSTAT 1 pan-European population grid
Keywords
Disaggregation, grids, dasymetric methods
Description
Though one of the goals of the GSGF Europe is to establish a point-based foundation for statistics to enable aggregation of geocoded data (bottom-up), disaggregation (top-down) is still important as a complementary technique when aggregation is not possible. This use case evaluates the quality of a disaggregation technique used to produce the pan-European GEOSTAT 1 population grid for 2011. The use case was conducted more than ten years ago, however it still contributes with valuable insights for disaggregation.
