European Forum for Geography and Statistics (EFGS) was happy to invite to the 15th annual EFGS conference which was held virtually (via WebEx) on 27th & 28th October 2022.
Conference motto “Towards standardised geospatial statistics”
Both the motto “Towards standardised geospatial statistics” and the logo described the outline of this year’s programme. The focus was to showcase and discuss the path we need to go to eventually achieve robust and flexible conditions for geospatial-statistical data integration.
The first day was focus on showcasing how the result from the GEOSTAT 4 project can support implementation of the Global Statistical Geospatial Framework (GSGF) on national and organisational level. In addition to practical cases presented, there was an interactive session where participants were invited to take part in defining the future activities of the EFGS to build a stronger community of geospatial-statistical experts.
The second day was focus on standardisation and interoperability. Both, the statistical view on standardisation as used in the ESS and the wide range of geospatial standards of the ISO TC211 series was presented and how to approach a domain-specific standard and the path towards standardised geospatial statistics discussed.
